Breast Enhancement Through Surgery

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

By: anchalee

Before we begin to give you additional information on this topic, take a moment to think about how much you already know.

When people think of breast enhancement today, they think of surgery. In the 1950s, they may have thought of task or push-up bras. In centuries past, they may have thought of herbs like fenugreek and hops flower when thinking of breast enhancement. Today, most women think of implants.

The most common implants these days, of course, are full with saline. existence ago, implants were generally full with silicone. Silicone is now considered by most doctors and patients to be too risky to use. If a salty implant bursts or leaks, the salty water will be absorbed into the body without great harm.

Implants can be inserted one of four different ways. They can be inserted through incisions in the creases underneath the breasts. They can be inserted through the skin in an opening made around the nipple. The third selection is for the physician to make an opening near the armpits, and introduce the implants through that area.

In the introduction, we saw how this subject can be beneficial to anyone. We will continue by explaining the basics of this topic.

The fourth, newest and most expensive selection is endoscopic surgery, in which an endoscope, or tiny camera, enables the physician to introduce the implants through a tiny opening in the woman’s stomach button. That a woman’s breast implants can now be inserted through her navel is amazing, but true.

If you have found our database of information on this subject useful, read some of our other topics as well.

What Yoga Exercise Do For You!

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

By: Jerry Hall

Yoga loosens up large muscles, so they aren’t stressing smaller muscles and bones resulting in injuries. It also loosens up joints and improves circulation, which is good for health.

The procedure is to go through a contortion which stretches the large muscles causing them to loosen up. As the largest muscles loosen up, the force shifts to smaller muscles. If the position is held too long, a small muscle could get injured.

So when muscles are real stiff, a position should only be held for a few seconds. Under these conditions, you should feel your way through the exercise. Instead of trying for perfect form, you just bend enough to add some force to the largest muscles. Then you shift weight a little moving the force around to different muscles. After that, return to a resting position for a few seconds.

Yoga is a complete science of life that originated in India many thousands of years ago. It is the oldest system of personal development in the world encompassing the entire body, mind and spirit. It is the union between a person’s own consciousness and the universal consciousness.

The Ancient Yogis had a profound understanding of man’s essential nature and of what he needs to live in harmony with himself and his environment. They perceived the physical body as a vehicle, with the mind as driver, the soul as man’s true identity, and action, emotion and intelligence as the three forces which pull the body-vehicle. In order for these to be integrated, these three forces must be in balance. Taking into account the interrelationship between body and mind, the Yogis formulated a unique method for maintaining this balance - a method that combines all the movements you need for physical health with the Breathing and Meditation techniques that ensure peace of mind.

Yoga may seem like the fabled elixir of life - a cure-all solution to man’s daily problems and concerns such as illness. But actually, the benefits that Yogis or Yoga practitioners have been experiencing for thousands of years are only being gradually proven by medical science now.

The classical techniques of Yoga date back more than 5,000 years. In ancient times, the desire for greater personal freedom, Health and long life, and heightened self-understanding gave birth to this system of physical and mental exercise which has since spread throughout the world. The word Yoga means “to join or yoke together,” and it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious experience.

Yoga, an ancient science, can help Women cope with health issues and help them develop the state of their body and mind. It can help alleviate the pain that goes with Menstruation, manage stress, and ensure an easier delivery among other benefits. Yoga poses are also designed to tone and exercise the muscles of the body to eliminate excess fat, and make it more flexible and stronger.

An Overview of Dietary Supplements

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

By: Jack Smith

How many times have you almost clicked on that pop-up Internet ad to buy a supplement that promises to give you relief from your agonizing asthma symptoms or one that will endow your skin with a healthy glow? There is a lot of interest and debate on the health benefits of dietary supplements. Do we actually know what the term dietary supplement means and are their benefits to health scientifically proven?

What are dietary supplements?
In the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, the U.S. Congress defined dietary supplements as products that are taken orally, and contain a dietary ingredient, like vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, and substances such as enzymes, organ tissues, glandulars, and metabolites all of which aims to supplement the diet. Dietary supplements, also called nutritional supplements, can also be extracts or concentrates and can come in forms such as tablets, capsules, softgels, gelcaps, liquids and even powders. The Act specifically states that dietary supplements must be labeled as such and must not be sold as a replacement for a conventional food or as the sole item for a meal.

Are supplements essential to good health?
While we more often than not question the efficacy of a medication, we seldom probe the benefits of a vitamin or a mineral supplement. What is important to know is that no matter how expensive or popular a vitamin supplement is it cannot replace a diet that is rich in natural nutrients. They are a safeguard against deficiency but everyone need not take them. If you’re eating a healthy diet (consuming between 1600 – 2800 calories), with lots of fruit, vegetables, grains and fiber, plenty of fluids in the form of water and other beverages, eating fortified foods, you may not add supplements. However, if you are at risk for a nutritional deficiency, you may need to take them. People who are more likely to need a supplement are those who consume less than 1200 calories a day, elderly people, strict vegetarians, people who are lactose intolerant, pregnant women, smokers and alcoholics, people who are recuperating from an illness and people who don’t consume a variety of foods.

How to Stay Interested in Exercise as an Aging Senior

Monday, August 28th, 2006

By: Frank Wilhelmi

Let’s start with the understanding that NOTHING reverses age-related functional decline as well or as quickly as weight training done correctly. This has been demonstrated in so many studies as to be unquestionable and so evident in the lifestyles of fit seniors that it is axiomatic. Walkers and wheelchairs are put aside in a matter of two to three months in every study I’ve read, with injuries being very rare and temporary in every case.
Exercise, particularly weight training or what is popularly called bodybuilding, is the key to maintaining, or recovering, physical capability. Anyone who wants to stay capable of independent living and activity should be engaged in a life-long program of bodybuilding until they can no longer move. The difference can mean ten to fifteen years of vitality and active living.
There are many factors that go hand in hand with exercise to get the best results out of exercise, including nutrition, body building supplements, hormonal enhancement, rest and recovery. These factors can be addressed as you move into a bodybuilding lifestyle, and you should work with a medical practitioner because you will probably find that you can reduce or eliminate many medications as your body starts functioning better over time. The three most important helps to enhancing results (I can personally vouch for these) are:

  • A nitric oxide boosting supplement such as BSN’s Nitrix and NO-Xplode
  • A Creatine Malate product such as BSN’s Cell Mass (and NO-Xplode)
  • A product that increases anabolic hormone production such as Iron-Tek’s 17-alpha Oxonolone.

So, let’s say we convince you to go join a gym and change your life-style; what’s going to produce the best results in the least amount of time? Well, for seniors, that’s not the right attitude! You need to adopt a mentality of SAVORING the workout. This is not a ‘do it for 6 months until I’m fixed thing’, it is an incremental process of improvement. The idea is to get progressively stronger as life moves along. The goal is to FEEL progress on a continuing basis. That feeling changes everything else in your life for the better – it makes everything seem doable.
Now, this takes a bit of self-deception! Here is why. If you decide that for every chest workout you are going to raise the weight by 1 pound in the inclined dumbbell press, sooner or later you will be unable to continue, or rip a pec muscle or get sick, etc. And you know with absolute assurity that at some point you will have to back down, ease off, give it a rest. So the secret is to ‘periodize’ your effort.
All successful bodybuilders, and we should imitate them in this regard, periodically drop their effort dramatically and ‘start again’. When you make a point of this as a matter of discipline, it doesn’t feel like LOSING. So every 6-8 weeks you drastically cut back, change the exercises, and begin the assault on a new personal best for, let’s say, a 5-rep max in the squat. You push yourself higher in weight each ensuing week until you feel the plateau coming, and then you go for the big one on the last set and see if you can best yourself this time around. The deception is this: even if you don’t make a new personal best, your body is tricked into this sense of having made steady progress for 6-8 weeks, and your brain logs that in as a good thing. It pumps out endorphins to make you feel good, and everything else goes better.
Now, you can’t do that for every exercise in your workout, you have to pick the one or two exercises for this cycle that you will strive for and let all the other moves be secondary. I like to use the compound moves that power lifters use (the squat, deadlift and benchpress) as the target for progress because they are the big anabolic triggers that jumpstart testosterone production. I won’t try for a max benchpress each time I cycle that move; it’s inclined dumbbell press on one cycle, declined benchpress on another and flat bench another and maybe flat bench with dumbbells another cycle. For legs, I will do inclined leg press one time then switch to the squat, then maybe to Smith Machine squats, then to hack squats (I hate hack squats). The last time I made 4 reps with 8 plates/side on the incline leg press was over 10 years ago. I thought about trying it for some photos to put on the website, but the image came into my mind of my wife’s face with a REALLY annoyed look if I was laid up for Christmas. I decided to try it in 2006. This time I settled for 6 reps with 7- 45 lb plates per side; not bad for a 66 year-old.

Weight Loss Surgery Risks And Benefits

Sunday, August 27th, 2006

By: Robert Moongrave

There is an increasing focus on weight loss in North America in the modern age, and the focus goes beyond mere looks. More and more studies are proving that being overweight not only looks unpleasant, but can also lead to some serious health issues, including high blood pressure, heart disease, and other factors which can lead to an early death.

Many obese people, however, face a serious problem when they begin to consider weight loss; they have become so overweight that their bodies simply cannot handle diets, nor can they summon the ability to partake in regular exercise. In most cases, the weight problem has become so critical that they do not really even have the time it takes to bring their weight down to a healthy level as they are in immediate danger of serious health consequences.

Lately, many people in this situation have begun to turn to the option of gastric bypass surgery. Over 150,000 gastric bypass procedures- wherein calorie intake is reduced by causing food to bypass parts of the stomach and the small intestine- were performed in 2005, many on the recommendation by a doctor for people who were considered morbidly obese.

One of the benefits of this procedure is that it is 100% effective when successful. Patients frequently state that they do not get hungry as often as they did before the surgery, nor does the hunger last as long. Patients also claim that they do not suffer the same cravings for unhealthy food that they did before the surgery. These effects are due to two factors. The first is the decreased size of the stomach- patients simply cannot hold food in the same capacity as they did previously. In addition, the smaller size means that the stomach is empty less than before the surgery and therefore does not signal the brain that food is needed.

The second reason for the decrease in appetite and cravings is the change in the hormonal balance that occurs after the surgery.

Gastric bypass is certainly beneficial in both time passed in regards to pounds lost and in the ease of the weight loss itself. However, there are also several risks involved when a patient elects to undergo the surgery.

Almost ten percent of patients who undergo the surgery report symptoms that could prove fatal some of the time. The surgery has been highly invasive in the past, with a large incision required form the upper chest to the navel. Any procedure involves risk, and the greater the cut the greater the risk. In addition, this large incision meant that a patient’s recovery time was greater, and also more painful.

Many of the risks of gastric bypass surgery are being eliminated with advancing research and procedures, such as the new laparoscopic bypass. Electing for this surgery will also entail a period of “dumping” time, in which a patient can expect to have recurring nausea, diarrhea, and an intolerance to sweets that may last for the rest of their lives.

The greatest risk in undergoing the gastric bypass surgery is the same as any surgery, especially those that are gaining popular attention; the risk of undereducated operators. Some studies have shown that the risk of death after gastric bypass is much higher in patients who go to surgeons with less experience in and knowledge of the procedure. The popularity of the procedure means that there are more doctors trying to make a quick dollar off of a limited knowledge, so any patient considering the surgery needs to be aware of their surgeon’s credentials and background.

Know Your Heart Health

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

By: Denton Krypps

We all know that keeping up with our heart health is an important thing to do. We all know that there are a wide variety of factors that cause heart problems, and we should know by now that there are some basic ways to help protect the health of our hearts. What many people do not realize, however, is that keys to their heart health may be different than keys to the heart health of others.

There are almost as many strategies and tips for having good heart health as there are people with hearts in the world. It is important that each person takes the time to learn about his or her own heart health and to learn about the possible methods of ensuring heart health for years to come.

One of the best ways for anyone to become familiar with the needs of their heart is to see a physician. Schedule a visit to see your doctor and plan to discuss your heart health with him or her. If you can think of any questions or concerns you have regarding your heart health, write them down and bring them along. It will also be very helpful if you have a record of your extended family’s heart health history. It is likely that your physician will want to discuss more than just your own heart health. He or she will want to look for patterns or trends that have affected other people you’re related to.

A physician can help you determine not only the current health of your heart, but also give you a better understanding of specific things you can do to help prevent heart attack or heart disease. For some people, the most significant factor in achieving and maintaining heart health is to change their diet. The foods we choose to put into our bodies affect our heart health in more ways than we know. Eating large amounts of sugar, carbohydrates or processed foods will eventually take their toll on our heart health. Your physician can set you up with a dietician who specializes in creating unique diet plans that promote heart health.

For other people, it is their exercise and physical fitness habits that a physician will address. Heart health can be significantly altered based upon a person’s level of exercise. Your physician will be able to help you create a fitness plan that will be effective for you and your heart health needs.

It is never too late to take your heart health seriously. Make an appointment to see your physician today.

Supplement Regulating - Is It A Good Idea?

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

By: Vitanet Health Foods

Under the Adverse Event Reporting (AER) bill before Congress, dietary supplements could eventually be taken off the over-the-counter status. In this day of offhand and frivolous lawsuits, Congress is poised to pass legislation that would allow private citizens to sue the supplement manufacturers, and possibly the marketplaces as well, for health related issues allegedly caused or aggravated by dietary supplements. Industry reporting of “adverse events” in a very formal way would also be a part of this package, much more complicated and detailed than that of the present requirements. The industry and the distributor could be held responsible in a court of law for the use or abuse of these supplements. This is akin to suing the butcher because I choked on a piece of steak, or maybe suing my barber because I’m not on the cover of G.Q. magazine. Ridiculous!

Given the circumstances of the proposed legislation, it may be fair to say that the parties responsible in bringing this issue out into the public and legislator spotlight are misguided, misinformed and ignorant. They fail to see the big picture, and the big picture is that the nutritional supplement industry will possibly be decimated with the passage of this bill. Along with Congress’ arrogant “bull in a china shop” attitude toward “protecting” the private sector, they are on course to remove our freedom of choice in health-related matters. Another real danger here is that the legislators are apt to accept the currently proposed AER bill because certain entities (Senator Dick Durbin) have threatened to re-introduce the issue upon defeat and include increasingly damaging restrictions to affect the industry. This is not about our protection. It is really about obtaining votes from an uninformed public by politicizing a nonexistent danger.

The AER bill before Congress is not a new issue. A very similar bill was defeated before the California Assembly in August of 2004. Many of the aforementioned reasons logically came into debate at that time. Wisely, the bill was seen for what it really is and was soundly turned away. The recent reasoning in Washington is that State-by-State regulating of nutritional supplements is practically non-existent, and when given the opportunity, as in California in 2004, “small-time” lawmakers from these States will completely botch the chance to adequately “protect” the average clueless consumer from this “real danger”.

Despite the resistance from Robert Brackett, director of the Center for Food Safety and Nutrition (CFSAN) at the Food and Drug Administration, Washington presses on. Mr. Brackett stated, in so many words, that there is existing and sufficient regulatory authority already in place through the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA). He further stated through testifying before Congress that the current administration has no plans to change current policy. He believes in the rights of the private citizen to make their own informed health choices when it comes to supplements.

The general manager for NSF International, Kathleen Jordan, testified at the same hearing before Congressional lawmakers that the development of the Dietary Supplement Certification Program speaks volumes for informing and allowing consumers adequate protection from the unregulated sale of supplements. The non-profit and non-government organization is leading the way in sane and fair ideas like the recently developed NSF/ANSI Standard 173, which ensures proper nutrient count and identification of contents. On one point, everyone seems to be in agreement. That is, tighter control of anabolic steroids that were once contained in products marketed as ”sports supplements”. The misuse of the term “supplement” in this case is one of the reasons that people are confused on the difference between dangerous substances like steroids and harmless nutrient supplements like vitamins, minerals and herbs.

Most people who take vitamins and supplements are on their self-imposed schedule that is usually based on the recommended daily allowance (RDA). I take vitamins and supplements every day and the amounts I take are based on the RDA, and the recommendations of my physician. In other words, I have supplements in my system all the time, as I routinely stay on schedule with this. If I were to believe that RDAs of vitamins, minerals and herbs would adversely affect my health in any way, I would stop taking them immediately. Many people that hear of this bill before Congress are going to believe that a real danger does exist just because it is at issue. Others, who inevitably experience failing health in one form or another, will also remember that a dietary supplement debate raged on for years.

If the outcome of the legislation is to allow frivolous lawsuits to ensue, they will surface, even if the supplements have absolutely nothing to do with their ills. The eventual outcome, sadly, is predictable. Every ailment known to man will be blamed on these harmless supplements, the industry will be forced to regulate in order to protect their bottom line, and you won’t be able to get dietary supplements without a prescription from your MD. When you then drive to your local drug store and are forced to pay hundreds of dollars for mere dietary supplements, remember that you had this one chance to voice your opinion by writing, calling or emailing your Senator or Congressman.

Fax Senator Dick Durbin at 202-228-0400, Fax Senators Tom Harkin at 202-224-9369 and Orrin Hatch at 202-224-6331Fax Senator Michael Enzi, Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, at 202-228-0359. Tell them that you demand the freedom to make your own health related and nutritional supplements decisions. The truth is this: The AER bill is wrong! It is wrong for the private citizen and it is wrong to the dietary supplement industry. It is wrong for America!

Fats in your Diet are Essential - But which one’s to Choose?

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

By: Keith Woolley

Have you ever wondered if what you know about omega 3 is accurate? Consider the following paragraphs and compare what you know to the latest info on omega 3.

Adding fats to your diet is essential if you want to live a healthy lifestyle that results in feeling and looking great, but it has to be the right kind of fats. Essential fatty acids fall within this category and are a crucially important addition to anyone’s diet.

Omega-3 essential fatty acids are made up of two components: DHA (which stands for docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid).

The best source of DHA and EPA are fish, especially salmon, seaweed, shellfish and algae. Furthermore, you can also get omega-3’s from unrefined whole grains, dark; leafy greens and certain nuts and seeds like walnuts, flaxseeds and pumpkin seeds. This second group contains ALA (alpha linolenic acid) which your body then converts to EPA and DHA.

Your best bet, however, is to get your omega-3’s from seafood because your body converts only about 15 percent of dietary ALA to EPA and much less to DHA.

What do you do if you don’t like, and absolutely refuse to eat, seafood? Well, fortunately you can get omega-3’s in capsule form. Not everyone’s stomach can handle these capsules, but try them out for one month. It’s an extremely convenient way to add omega-3’s to your diet.

When purchasing omega-3’s in pill form, you’ll notice some products also contain the other two components of essential fatty acids: omega-6 and omega-9. Stick with the products that contain only high amounts of omega-3’s. Most people already get high amounts of these two fatty acids from their diet, and it’s this lack of omega-3’s that is potentially the culprit behind many health problems today.

Think about what you’ve read so far. Does it reinforce what you already know about omega 3? Or was there something completely new? What about the remaining paragraphs?

When adding omega-3’s to your diet through pills, look for 1,000 mg pills and take 3-9 per day with food depending on your current health status and healthy living goals. Your Doctor or physician should be able to consult with you about this.

Solgar Vitamins have some very good omega 3 products available at www.solgar.co.uk

So now you have a good introduction into omega-3 fatty acids and the different ways to add them to your diet, but what are the health benefits associated with them?

Plenty! Here’s a quick list and you can also easily do some research by searching for “benefits of omega-3″ in your favorite search engine.

- stabilizes blood sugar levels and lowers insulin levels
- boosts your immune system
- encourages your body to burn fat and decreases appetite
- improves your mood and attention span
- reduce inflammation
- improve your skin tone and radiance

If the above doesn’t get you excited about this proven, inexpensive and easy-to-get fatty acid supplement, then check your pulse!

It’s an addition to your diet that will help improve your health by leaps and bounds.

I hope that reading the above information was both enjoyable and educational for you. Your learning process should be ongoing–the more you understand about any subject, the more you will be able to share with others.

What Products Are Available For Breast Enlargement

What Products Are Available For Breast enlargement?

Numerous research is being completed everyday on breast enlargement products. These products are either ingested by mouth or massaged into the breast using a cream, and can be manufactured or found naturally in the environment.

Manufactured enlargement Products

The breast enlargement products that are available from a laboratory are usually pills. This type of product is the commonly sought after for breast augmentation, as it does not involve any surgery. Before this breast enlargement product is released to the general public, it will undergo clinical trials and the results of these trials are then published for others to read. As long as someone is correctly taking breast enlargement pills, they will work.

Many pharmaceutical companies have developed creams as well, which contain the topical versions of the ingredients found within the breast enlargement pills. enlargement creams are popular items as well because they are easy to apply. As a breast enlargement product, some enlargement creams are used as an adjunct to pills. They are usually applied everyday for a period of a few months to see the best results.

Another type of manufactured breast enlargement product is a breast enlargement pump. They are not as popular as pills or creams, but the product is thought to build up a pressure in the breast by using a suction cup. This pressure leads to an increase in the cell size and fluid in the breasts.

Natural enlargement Products

Most often plant products are used to provide a natural breast enlargement product. These plant products will usually contain estrogen, that functions to stimulate breast tissue and cause an increase in the breast size. Therefore, the most common breast enlargement products occurring in the environment include the saw palmetto and the dandelion, and extensive studies have been conducted on their successful roles as a breast enlargement product.
